Medical Records for Pets, Too!

Medical Records for Pets, Too!

It’s not uncommon for pets to have medical ailments just like people.  When pets get lost, a kind stranger who picks them up and feeds them might do more harm than good!  For example, your cat might be allergic to fish, and if a stranger picks them up and provides them with a tasty fish dinner, the result could cause your pet injury!  Your turtle might happen to escape their enclosure, and might also require a strict diet of carrots or risk having an upset stomach!

For most pets, medical records can be stored on their collars with a portable USB flash drive.  You can also store contact information for the owner here as well, including more specific information than that found on an ID tag; work phone number, best times to call, alternative addresses, alternative contacts, etc.

File Storage On-The-Go

File Storage On-The-Go

While I was a college student, I can’t tell you how many times I needed to print out a paper or access a computer document when I wasn’t near my PC.  Luckily I had my trusty USB memory stick throughout my entire stint in academics, and it saved me so many times.  With a dozen things on my mind (turn in this, study for this, call her, etc) I could be quite forgetful, so I carried my memory stick with me at all times, and saved all my homework, papers, and even lecture notes on it.  Finding a printer or a computer on campus is no big deal, and while I considered purchasing a laptop, when I had all my documents with me at all times, there seemed to be no reason.

During finals week one semester, I had three finals to study for in a matter of days, and when I arrived at class for the last final, I realized that I had forgotten about the final paper for another class!  In the final minutes before it was due I rushed to the library, printed my paper, and turned it in.  I never could have passed that quarter without my memory stick!

USB storage device

When you have a need to transfer several files from one computer to another, there are several options to consider.  The most common method to transfer files is to use a USB storage device; these devices can store around one to two gigabytes of data, and are great for moving smaller text based documents.  For larger files like music or video, it’s best to consider using an external hard drive.  These devices are like much larger versions of a USB storage device, and can store all the data from one computer.  There is also the option to use the internet, in which you can transfer files through two computers on the same network provided you have the IP addresses and passwords for both.

If your problem is that your computer is broken or won’t start and you need to extract necessary files from the hard drive, you will have to remove the hard drive and bring it to a computer servicing location.  Luckily, the entire process of transferring one hard drive to another is quite simple and inexpensive; don’t let the computer servicer charge you more than needed!
